Myotherapy involves the treatment of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia) to relieve pain, tightness, and altered muscle function, resulting from injury, poor posture, muscle weakness, stress, or overuse. Myotherapy and remedial massage are widely accepted forms of treatment for both acute and chronic injuries, both as the primary form of treatment, and conjunction with physiotherapy management.

Myotherapy and remedial massage treatment is extremely useful in correcting soft tissue tension abnormalities, which commonly result in dysfunctional movement patterns. Failure to correct these abnormalities may perpetuate pain cycles, increase the risk of injury, prevent recovery from injury, and increase the likelihood of injury recurrence.
